Charles Stuart Platkin, JD, MPH
Founder and CEO

CHARLES STUART PLATKIN JD, MPH is one of the country's leading nutrition and public health advocates.  His syndicated nutrition and fitness column appears in more than 165 daily newspapers nationally, including the Miami Herald, The Buffalo News, the Honolulu Advertiser, Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Charlotte Observer, The State, The Fort Worth Star Telegraph, Omaha World Herald and the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He is the founder and director of The Institute for Nutrition & Behavioral Sciences, a non-profit organization that conducts obesity-related research and designs public health programs.

Platkin has been quoted as a weight loss/nutrition expert in numerous publications, including USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, Time, Newsweek, Ladies Home Journal, Men's Health, Shape, and Fitness. He has also appeared on NBC's The Today Show, CNN, CNBC, CBS's The Early Show, the BBC, and others. He is a member of the American Society for Nutritional Sciences, the American Obesity Association, the North American Association for the Study of Obesity, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and the American Council on Exercise. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations, a law degree from Fordham University, and a Masters in Public Health from Florida International University. He is also a certified personal trainer and is currently pursuing his PhD in Public Health (2007).

Platkin is also the founder of Integrated Wellness Solutions, which designs health interventions that combine behavioral print marketing and a sophisticated online software program integrating the latest scientific and behavioral nutrition research. The program is used by insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and other large corporations. His first book, "Breaking the Pattern" was a bestseller in hardcover; it has been used by addiction clinics to assist patients with resolving drug and alcohol-related issues and by more than 20 universities around the country as a text to teach behavioral change techniques to nutrition and dietetic counseling students. His latest books are "Breaking The Fat Pattern" (Penguin Group, 2006) with a foreword by Barbara Rolls, PhD, Professor and Guthrie Chair in Nutrition, Penn State University, a nutrition book for teens, "Lighten Up" (Razorbill, 2006), and "The Diet Detective's Count Down" (Simon and Schuster, 2007).

Amy Klingner Previato, MPH
Chief Operating Officer

Amy Previato, MPH [Masters in Public Health ] graduated from the University of Miami with a BA in Psychology, and earned a Master's in Public Health and a Certificate in Wellness and Health Promotion from Florida International University.  During her years of study, she also worked as a Research and Graduate Assistant.  She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), and has extensive experience in Health Promotion Program planning, implementation and evaluation.  She is an Adjunct Professor at FIU, and a member of the APHA.  Ms. Previato's professional endeavors are a proud part of her lifelong pursuit of learning, living and teaching a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Renuka Jain, MD
Medical Director

RENUKA JAIN, MD graduated from Columbia University College of Medicine and Surgeons with honors in clinical practice with a specialization in cardiology and diabetes management.  Jain practiced internal medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital, with a focus on preventive medicine and public health. She is also a magna cum laude graduate of human biology from Brown University.

Theresa Davis, MS, RD
Director of Nutrition Services

THERESA DAVIS, MS, RD is certified by the American Dietetic Association as an Adult Weight Management Counselor.  Weight management has been the primary focus of Davis' studies and professional experiences. In the past, she was a clinical dietitian at Mary Immaculate Hospital, a division of St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Centers. There she assessed, counseled and educated patients in acute, long term, and outpatient settings. Additionally, she precepted nutrition students, delivered lectures to hospital staff, and contributed to the hospital community newsletter. An avid fitness enthusiast, she has also worked as a personal trainer, which merged her passions for exercise, nutrition, and a healthy lifestyle. Davis completed her dietetic internship at the Bronx Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, an experience that exposed her to varied and unique nutrition programs such as the Community Food Resource Center, Calvary Hospital - Center for Palliative Cancer Care, St Luke's- Roosevelt and Mount Sinai Hospitals pediatric wards, and the Mount Sinai research facility for Cystic Fibrosis. She also participated in medical monitoring and nutrition counseling at the Theodore Van Itallie Obesity Research and Education Center. Davis obtained her Master of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University and her B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany.

Christine Giberson, BA
Graphic Designer

CHRISTINE GIBERSON, BA graduated from Loyola College in Maryland in 2002 with a B.A. in Communications. She then attended University of Maryland, Baltimore County, from which she graduated in 2005 with a second BA in Graphic Design. Giberson has been with Integrated Wellness Solutions since January 2006.

Kelly S Frindell, MPH
Health and Research Consultant

KELLY S FRINDELL, MPH graduated with honors from Trinity University with a BA in Psychology and received a Master’s in Public Health from Florida International University.  She has worked in various research laboratories, including Trinity University, the University of Miami, and the Ohio State University.  Frindell was a health educator at local high schools for several years and taught students about topics such as nutrition, fitness, and hypertension.  She has also worked as a food and quality assurance evaluator for some of the top restaurants in the country.  She is a member of the American Public Health Association.  A former collegiate athlete, Frindell is currently an active Masters swimmer and runner.
